Meet Izzy

This is Izzy. Two weeks ago Amber had me go to the shelter to pick up this pretty girl. She was an owner surrender and had only been in the shelter for about 48 hours. When I say she drug me out of the shelter, I'm not kidding. RUNNING. TOP SPEED. Before I could even open the door to the car she leaped inside. Then she sat panting all the way home.

When I say nervous. I mean it. I was scared for her. She was constantly pacing and panting non-stop when we got into my house. She was lost. She was confused. She was scared.

As I watched her over the next few days, she had extreme separation anxiety. Every time I left the room she would cry and bark. She calmed down after she realized I was coming back.

I don't know her back story, but I can imagine. She is 5 years old. She was dropped at the shelter due to "move". Who knows if she had 1 owner or 10. By the way she knows how to sit, down, roll over, stay, shake, and have her belly rubbed I can imagine that someone put some love and effort into her.

I don't know whats more sad...the fact that someone's life was so bad they had to drop an obviously loved dog at a shelter, or the fact that Izzy laid on the floor depressed for days. She missed her owners. She still misses them. But they aren't coming back.

I'm not sure if she knows that.

Izzy is one of those characters. The characters in the movies that are so sweet and loving and perfect, but they've got troubling issues.. that hinders their progress. Izzy's issue is that she is having trouble with other dogs. I KNOW it is out of fear. Who knows what has happened? Was this all of her life? Was this at the shelter?

All I know is that its the reason she hasn't been adopted. "Well I need a dog that is good with other dogs." "I have temperamental dogs, so that probably wouldn't work." I'm not saying these are excuses. I'm saying that these are common reasons that stand in Izzy's path to happiness.

Izzy isn't the perfect package....for everyone. But she IS the perfect package..for someone.

You know in the movies when that girl finds the perfect guy, but he has a troubled past? What happens? She says, "I can't do this." Then, that silly girl comes to her senses and they work on their problems TOGETHER. And they stay together forever.

Maybe that's a fairytale.  But Izzy needs to know that there is a fairytale ending. Because this lovely lady, has had her fair share of harships, and she needs her knight and shining armor to save her.
